A new duo strengthens the governance of GEODEEP, the Cluster in charge of exporting French geothermal expertise Internationally.

Two General Delegates have joined the governance of GEODEEP, the AFPG’s cluster dedicated to promoting French geothermal expertise abroad: Gillian Bethune and Maximilien de Maisonneuve have been elected to roles focused on the European and international markets, respectively.

On March 25, 2024, Gillian Bethune, a geothermal study engineer at Geofluid, and Maximilien de Maisonneuve, the head of geothermal development at Vallourec, were elected as Deputy Delegate for Europe and Deputy Delegate for International Affairs, respectively. This duo will reinforce the coordination efforts previously led by Sylvain Brogle, President of the GEODEEP Cluster, who also serves as the President of the International Geothermal Association.

This new pair, with their commercial and technical expertise, aims to amplify the voices and skills of the members, implement the Cluster’s strategy by developing commercial projects in various target countries, and establish European and international partnerships.

GEODEEP’s strength lies in its numerous SMEs of varying sizes, ensuring flexibility to respond swiftly to requests and its ability to provide tailored solutions while promoting French competencies in regulation and environmental processes. In 2023, the French government officially recognized the GEODEEP Cluster as a support point for building an export strategy for French geothermal energy and representation in international bodies.

The GEODEEP Cluster was officially created on June 25, 2014, in Paris under the aegis of the French Association of Geothermal Professionals (AFPG) and with the support of ADEME. The cluster’s members are involved in almost the entire value chain of a deep geothermal project: operators, subsurface and surface study offices, drillers, equipment and service suppliers, and more.
