Fonroche – Vendenheim geothermal plant

Vendenheim geothermal plant is an electricity and heat energy plant. It is located north of Strasbourg, France, in the Rhine Grabben geological area, inside the Strasbourg exploration license owned by Fonroche Geothermie. It is producing from granite faulty reservoir.

Capacity : 10 MW electrical fro ORC process and 30 MW high temperature heat and 200 MW low temperature heat. The two wells are 5200 m and 6300 m length . Temperature 200 °c. Multilateral drilling has been implemented. Rig used is a 450 t rig from Foragelec, drilling contractor subsidary of Fonroche Geothermie. Many drilling tools innovation and procedures have been developped in Vendenheim wells.
